There are two main differences in the types of wigs available on the market today.  You basically have one big choice between synthetic and human hair wigs, and then you can make style and preference choices after that.

Most people probably assume that a wig made from human hair is definitely the better way to go, but it is not always that simple.  Both types of wigs have their positive and negative attributes, but today we will just be focusing on wigs made from human hair.

While some people think human hair is the only way to go, other people get grossed out by the idea of wearing someone else’s hair on their head.  It is kind of weird when you think about it, but it’s something you have to put out of your head if you want to have a very realistic wig.

When it comes down to picking out a wig, it really comes down to your personal situation.  You just need to find the wig that will work for you and what you have going on in your life at that time.  Think about how much time you will have to take proper care of your wig and also think about how often you are going to be wearing it.  These are very important questions that need to be answered before you begin looking through wigs online or in a local store.

It is interesting to note that most of the human hair wigs sold today are made with hair that comes from Asia.  China produces the majority of the human hair wigs, but you are likely getting hair from India or Pakistan if you have decided to look for something of high quality.  Obviously Asian hair is usually black and straight, but adjustments can be made to the source hair before it is put on the market.  Different hairstyles can be made with the hair, or you can just buy it as straight and black.  You can also get the hair in different colors after it goes through a specific coloring process.

If you are going with a wig made from human hair, you probably want to stick with straight and black as the style.  The wigs that come in other styles have generally been processed to much and start to fade after a few months.  If you are only looking for a wig for the short term, then this is not something you need to worry about.  If you are looking for a European style wig, then you will be getting human hair from Poland or Russia.  These will be more expensive than the wigs from Asia, but they are definitely the best option if you are looking for an alternative to straight and black hair.  Made sure the tag says the hair comes from an Eastern European country before you buy it.  If it does not say it’s country of origin, it is likely an Asian country such as China.
